The world has been captivated by a viral video of 6-month-old baby waterskiing.

The baby’s parents are now facing backlash after the video they posted gained over 59,000 likes on Instagram.

In the clip, the baby's father, Casey Humphreys, sits in a boat as his newborn son, Rich, waterskis on Lake Powell for the first time.

“He’s just so full of life,” Mindi Humphreys, the baby's mother, told "Good Morning America." “He loves the water.”

The family explained that the boat was going about 5 miles per hour and Casey was by his son's side at all times.

“We had a separate boat out there,” the father said, adding that they had “10 to 12 people with us, including doctors and nurses.”

Although the baby was wearing a life vest, many online users quickly slammed the family’s decision.

Barstool Sports shared the video, which quickly went viral and gained over 2.6 million views.

The caption read, “Kid is a living legend already.”

People were quick to comment that the video was “reckless” and “irresponsible.” One person wrote, “this child is far too young to be on the water unattended -- is in real danger of drowning or letting go and seriously hurting himself.”

However, others praised the parents for allowing the baby to partake in the water sport.

“You are such great parents teaching your beautiful little boy how awesome adventure is,” another posted.

Rich’s parents said they enrolled him in infant swimming classes and built him that custom board.

“He has never fallen off of it before,” Casey told GMA. “When we put him on the board and had him on the top he, he was right at home.”

Prior to putting their baby on the water, the parents even got the approval of their doctor.

"We talked to his pediatrician and before we water-skied, he was super impressed by how far along Rich and he’s really well developed for his age," Mindi said. "He said it’s fine and to not worry."
