D.C. Moped Accident Comes Days After Vehicles Placed In City

August 21, 2019

A driver using a rentable moped in D.C. hit a pothole and fell off last weekend, just days after the shared vehicles were introduced to the District.

A Revel spokesman confirmed the incident and used the accident to remind drivers of the company’s guidelines.

"We are aware of the unfortunate incident in Washington, D.C. involving a rider,” the spokesman said in a  statement. “Safety is our number one priority. This is why we verify riders have a safe driving history as part of our registration process, why we require all riders to use the helmets we provide on each Revel, and why we offer free lessons."

FOX 5 was the first to report the incident, which occurred at Logan Circle on Sunday.

The moped landed on the driver, according to the report. He was transported to the hospital with a broken collarbone.
