'Too Soon' To Tell How Hurricane Dorian Will Impact D.C. Weather, NHC Says

August 29, 2019

It’s too soon to tell how Hurricane Dorian will impact the weather in the D.C. area, the National Hurricane Center told The Drive.

The NHC said in its 11 a.m. advisory the earliest storm-like winds would reach the coast of Florida is Saturday night.

An NHC spokeswoman said the storm could become a “major hurricane” sometime Friday and create “extremely dangerous” weather in Florida through the weekend.

The center will be able to better predict the storm’s path after it reaches Florida’s coast.

Heavy rain is projected to reach the southeastern U.S. this weekend and remain into next week.

The organization is also urging travelers to monitor flights, as the storm might create disruptions across the country this Labor Day weekend.
