You may want to throw out any recently purchased hummus.

Pita Pal Foods issued a voluntary nationwide recall of several of it's hummus products under brands Harris Teeter, Lidl, Pita Pal, 7-Select, Schnucks, Roundy’s, Reasor’s, Lantana, Hummus Hummus,Bucee’s and Fresh Thyme.

The recall comes following concerns of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, which was found at a manufacturing center during an FDA inspection.

If consumed, the bacteria can cause potentially fatal infections in young children and elderly adults or those who have weak immune systems.

Symptoms found in relatively heathly people can include high fever, headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, according to the FDA.

No illnesses have been reported concerning the listed hummus brands, however Pita Pal Foods is exercising caution with the recall.
