Small Baby Trump Balloons Will Be Handed Out During D.C. Fourth Of July Events

July 3, 2019

The Donald Trump baby balloon will be making an appearance during Thursday’s Fourth of July festivities in the District.

Tighe Barry submitted an application to have the balloon fly over the city, and while the National Park Service hasn’t confirmed to The Drive whether a permit was issued, Barry said Wednesday the balloon will appear.

Barry was told the balloon wouldn’t be able to fly more than several feet in the air, but he sought a permit from the Flight Standards District Office that would enable it to fly and is awaiting a response.

The baby Trump balloon will appear at 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, Barry said. It will move every four hours, because the tarp cannot be in the same spot on the ground for more than four hours.

Code Pink, a women-led non-governmental organization that completed the application for the permit, will be giving out small versions of the balloon for guests to keep, Barry said.

A GoFundMe page created to get the balloon to D.C. for this year’s Fourth of July events raised more than $17,000 of its $20,000 goal.
