D.C. is Ranked Number 4 Bicycling City in the U.S.

The District isn't the worst place in the world to be a bike rider. It's actually close to one of the best in the country, according to a report conducted by COYA, a European insurance company.

Washington, D.C. ranked number 4 and 52 internationally.

The District is only trailing behind San Francisco, Portland and Seattle in the United States.

The index takes into account bicycle usage, safety, infrastructure and cycling accidents and fatalities.

“We decided to investigate which cities around the world are improving their overall cycling conditions, as well as encouraging bicycle-usage as a healthy, sustainable mode of transport," the index states.
