A water main break was discovered early Friday morning. The 36 inch long break affected thousands of people in Arlington County and parts of D.C.

Though the main break has now been stabillized, many people lost water pressure and have been advised not to consume water from the faucet.

The Arlington Department of Environmental Services issued a boil water advisory for affected residents to boil their water as a precaution.

Only after water has been boiled for at least three minutes and cooled will it be safe for consumption or use for brushing teeth, making ice, or giving to pets.
