Earlier this year Maryland Department of of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration issued statements calling for state residents to make sure they were REAL ID compliant.

Since then only 55% percent of residents have followed that prompt. As soon as October of 2020 residents will no longer be able to enter federal facilities or board domestic flights without having compliant ID or a passport.

Hours have been extended at various MVA locations across the state and those who need to submit proper paperwork may make appointments to do so.

“The appointments process has been really popular in Maryland,” MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer told WTOP. “Make those appointments, (and we) guarantee to see you within 15 minutes, but we’re meeting about a seven-minute average wait time.”
