Enjoy the Ride with 94.7 The Drive

October 3, 2018

We are excited to present…94.7 The Drive!

Entercom Communications has rebranded 94.7 Fresh FM as 94.7 The Drive, featuring a blend of top rock, pop and R&B hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

94.7 The Drive is perfect for the diverse tastes of the DMV, with an up-tempo energy ideally suited for the area’s notoriously long commutes.

Program Director Steve Davis says D.C. has been starving for an ’80s-based, mass-appeal station for years.

“Music has always touched and influenced us,” Davis says. “Finally, the DMV has a station in 94.7 The Drive highlighting the great songs that provided the soundtrack for those special times in our lives.”

Entercom Senior Vice President and Market Manager Phil Zachary says, “Washington, D.C., is the only major market without a Classic Hits radio station, and with Entercom’s track record in the format from New York to L.A., we have the wherewithal to capitalize on this unique opportunity.”

Some of 94.7 The Drive’s famous siblings include WCBS-FM in New York, KRTH in Los Angeles, WOMC in Detroit and WOGL in Philadelphia.

The station launched with limited commercial interruption on Wednesday, October 3, at 5 p.m.

Stay tuned for local on-air personalities joining the lineup later this year!
