KonMarie Fans Love New Netflix Show 'Tidying Up with Marie Kondo'

January 2, 2019

Netflix released a new show by the author of "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing" on New Year's Day, a savvy move considering how many people are seized by a desire to cleanse and make resolutions come January 1.

Marie Kondo's most famous book on organizing was published in 2011 and has since become a bestseller in Japan, Europe and the U.S.

Her trademark is the KonMari method, which consists of compiling all of your belongings (going one category at a time) and then keeping only those things that "spark joy" and finding a place for them from that point on.

In one episode of the Netflix show, Kondo helps a widow who can't bear to part with her late husband's belongings, while in another, she works with a family forced to downsize from a four-story home to a two-bedroom apartment.
