Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said at a New Hampshire event Tuesday that many people have approached him about running for president and announced plans to visit several other states ahead of the 2020 election.

Hogan, a critic of President Donald Trump, didn’t mention when a decision would be made. The Republican governor said he has already made appearances in 10 states.

“This is not something I was really focused on,” Hogan said. “A lot of people have been approaching me, probably since the time of my inauguration. People have asked me to give this serious consideration and I think I owe it to those people to do just that, and that’s what I’m doing, I’m listening.”

Hogan, who was re-elected in November, would become the second Republican candidate to compete with President Trump. Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld previously announced his candidacy.

Hogan was the featured speaker at a “Politics & Eggs” event at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire.
