If you live in Maryland or Virginia, you’re residing in one of the best states in the country.

Maryland and Virginia ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in U.S. News and World Report’s annual state rankings. Neither state cracked the top 10 in the 2018 rankings.

Of course, the District wasn’t ranked because it isn’t a state.

The outlet used health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, fiscal stability of the state’s government, the environment and safety as criteria for its rankings. Health care and education were the most heavily weighted based on what matters to people the most, the outlet said.

Maryland was ranked No. 5 in opportunity, and Virginia came in at No. 7 in education.

Here are the top 10 states, according to the report:

  1. Washington
  2. New Hampshire
  3. Minnesota
  4. Utah
  5. Vermont
  6. Maryland
  7. Virginia
  8. Massachusetts
  9. Nebraska
  10. Colorado
