AT&T Will Start Automatically Blocking Robocalls

July 10, 2019

An anti-robocall service is coming to AT&T.

The service provider in the coming months will add alerts for fraud blocking and potential spam calls to phone lines for free, the company said in a news release.

The new feature comes as a result of a June Federal Communications Commission ruling mandating that call-blocking tools be offered as an “opt out” option, which enables companies to provide the service automatically.

AT&T said its customers will receive a text message notifying them when the service is added.

It’s unclear when the service will be added to existing lines. The company said to watch for additional details and announcements in the “coming months.”
