July 8, 2019

Several people at Union Station on Sunday were sent sprinting for the exits after hearing a loud noise resembling gunshots. But in a tweet, Kevin Donahue, the District’s deputy mayor for public safety and justice, said there wasn’t an active shooter.

The loud noises were fireworks, Donahue said.

In the tweet, Donahue said D.C. Police and Fire and EMS officials immediately responded to the scene.
