The owner of two well-known D.C.-area venues was arrested Wednesday and charged with solicitation of prostitution.

Earlier this month, Seth Hurwitz made an appointment for a massage session and made sexual comments and motions during the massage, implying he would leave a larger tip if sexual acts were performed, police said.

Hurwitz is co-owner of The Anthem and 9:30 Club.

During the same appointment, police said Hurwitz left a roll of cash on the floor and asked the woman if she would consider giving him a massage at his home. She then ended the massage prematurely.

On the same day, Hurwitz also sent messages to the woman’s business phone, asking if she would visit his home, police said. In a phone call that police witnessed with the woman, Hurwitz agreed to pay cash in exchange for sex.

Hurwitz was arrested and released on $5,000 bond.

Investigators ask anyone else who might have been a victim to call detectives at 240-773-5958.
